Learn about the history of Puerto Rican art with a visit to the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico. A museum docent will be taking us on a tour of the museum and highlighting some of Puerto Rico’s most important works of art and artists. The Museum of Art of Puerto Rico is located in the neighborhood of Santurce, an upcoming neighborhood known for its hip restaurants, music venues, street art, bars and La Plaza del Mercado. Also known as “La Placita,” La Plaza del Mercado is a fruit and vegetable market on the inside during the day, and known not only for its produce but for its refreshing papaya smoothies. At night, the bars and restaurants around the market open and you can eat, drink, and dance with locals. Santurce is known for its street art painted by both local and international artists. We will be visiting some of these famous murals.
