“The Raíces Yoga & Culture Retreat, was simply put, a dream come true. I’m still pinching myself from the experience. Everything from the accommodations, excursions, food, community of yogis, and of course, yoga classes, was amazing. After practicing yoga for many years, and teaching for a few, I finally decided to go on a retreat. And I’m so glad I chose this one. Jendar is an expert planner and guide, and her love for yoga and Puerto Rican culture was contagious. The yoga classes offered a wide range of spiritual and physical exploration, appropriate for a yoga practitioner of any level. And the day trips were both fun and informative. I would highly recommend this retreat to anyone who wants to experience Puerto Rico and dive deeper into their yoga practice. ”
— Damara, Queens, New York, Spring 2018 Retreat
“Raices Cultural Retreat was an excellent experience and one that I would recommend to others. Starting each day with sunrise yoga on the beach really helped put the day in perspective. The mid-day Ashtanga yoga was challenging mentally and physically, but the instructor was nurturing and understanding. The meals served were of superior quality. All the additional cultural activities and nature walks were an amazing complement to the yoga classes. I would recommend this retreat to any yoga enthusiast of any level, who also enjoys combining travel with yoga.”
— Ciara, Bamako, Mali, New Year 2017 Retreat
“What makes this retreat so amazing is the perfect balance between the fitness side of it along with all the cultural events. Even as a native to the island, who has lived outside of PR for almost 25 years, I still experienced things I have never done before. I visited places that didn’t remember existed, and enjoyed falling in love all over again with my culture! From the beautiful acommodations, to the chefs’ delightful cuisine, and the great variations of yoga practices, all the way to the in home massages, Jendar’s personal attention and unique style, this experience has quickly become one of my most extraordinary ones in my life. ”
— Jeanette, Indio, California, Spring 2017 Retreat
“I am so glad I made the decision to do this for myself, and to spend several days of self-reflection focused on my breathing. Jendar organized a thoughtful mix of yoga sessions and cultural activities that went beyond what you may expect of a typical yoga retreat. We had an opportunity to learn about the island and see some of its beauty, which greatly enriched the experience for me. ”
— Jamie, Wasington D.C., Spring 2018 Retreat
“Jendar’s thoughtful preparation is what makes Raíces Yoga & Culture Retreat so successful. What stands out the most among other choices is the unique chance to spend time being led in yoga practice by someone who is also a proud local to the Puerto Rican culture.

Jendar has built strong relationships with other locals who enjoy sharing the island’s beauty, history, language, cuisine, music, dance, and even hurricane relief opportunities, with her visitors as much as she does!

The balance and smooth flow of daily yoga sessions along with prearranged group excursions and free time was what made this retreat special to me. ”
— - Sally, Guánica, PR, Spring Retreat 2018
“Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the retreat. I knew I wanted to spend a stress free week somewhere new, doing things I wouldn’t normally do. Raíces Yoga & Culture Retreat was that and much more. I think my favorite part were the yoga classes everyday. I was nervous because I had zero yoga experience but Jendar and the other instructors were very patient and encouraging at all times, which made me really love the classes. The vegetarian/vegan meals served everyday were delicious. Hiking in El Yunque, the nature tour and the rest of the cultural activities showed me a side of Puerto Rico I did not know, and now love. I highly recommend this retreat to anyone who loves yoga (any level of yoga experience) and for those who love to travel. ”
— Claudia, Miami, Florida, Spring 2017 Retreat
“This was a fabulous yoga and cultural retreat. We could not have asked for a better way to immerse ourselves into all the wonderful aspects of life in San Juan. The food was very good and there was great accommodation to rides and extra activities. The yoga sessions were both restful and challenging. Perfect!”
— Mary Ann, Salt Lake City Utah, New Year 2017 Retreat
“I loved experiencing Puerto Rico with Raíces Yoga & Culture Retreat! Jendar was an excellent host, instructor and guide to the island. I learned so much about Puerto Rican culture while also improving my yoga practice. Jendar adapts to the needs and preferences of the group that she leads and makes your comfort and satisfaction a top priority. When I came to the retreat, I had a big personal decision in my mind, and the retreat helped me to make the best choice for myself. When I left the island, I felt renewed spiritually, physically and mentally. There are so many yoga retreats that you can find out there but I am so glad that I chose to go with Jendar. Het kind guidance and encouraging, and dynamic leaderships, is what makes this retreat unique. ”
— Lindsay, Los Angeles, California, Spring 2017 Retreat
“From the moment I entered the Palm Springs airport to board my flight to Puerto Rico the transformation began. I knew in that instance that this would be a spiritual and life changing experience. The most beautiful thing of all is that Jendar with her beautiful soul and graceful presence has renewed and helped me recreate my love of Yoga. I brought it back home and the transformation continues.”
— Jackie, Palm Desert, California, Spring 2017 Retreat
